Civil Foreman

Location: Edmonton, Alberta

Our client is a well-established company specializing in groundworks, excavation, and civil construction services throughout Alberta. They are dedicated to delivering high-quality projects on time and within budget, and they are seeking a skilled and experienced Foreman to lead their project teams.

Job Description:
As a Foreman, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and coordinating groundworks and excavation projects. You will be responsible for leading construction crews, ensuring safety and quality standards are met, and managing day-to-day project operations. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage construction crews, ensuring they work efficiently, safely, and in accordance with project plans and specifications.
  • Project Oversight: Supervise and coordinate daily project activities, including excavation, grading, trenching, and site preparation.
  • Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and regulations, conducting regular safety meetings and ensuring that all personnel adhere to safety guidelines.
  • Quality Control: Monitor work progress to ensure that excavation and groundworks meet or exceed quality standards and client expectations.
  • Equipment Management: Coordinate the use of heavy equipment and machinery, ensuring they are maintained and operated safely and efficiently.
  • Material and Resource Management: Oversee the use of materials, supplies, and resources required for the project, ensuring efficient allocation and minimizing waste.
  • Client Communication: Maintain open communication with clients, addressing any project-related concerns and providing regular updates on project progress.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and address issues or obstacles that may arise during the project, finding practical solutions to keep the project on track.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of daily activities, work completed, and any deviations from the project plan.
  • Reporting: Provide regular reports to the Project Manager, detailing project status, progress, and any issues that need attention.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (additional certification or education in construction management is a plus).
  • Proven experience as a Foreman in groundworks, excavation, or civil construction.
  • Strong knowledge of excavation and groundworks processes, methods, and safety regulations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to operate and understand heavy equipment is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with local construction regulations and permits.
