Job summary

Blackline Civil, an Alberta-based heavy civil contractor, is seeking a skilled Civil Estimator for our Edmonton-area team. You will prepare detailed cost estimates, review drawings and tender documents, and develop pricing for labour, equipment, and materials on diverse earthworks and utility projects.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in civil estimating, experience with underground utilities and land development, proficiency in estimating software and Excel, and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of civil estimating experience (senior-level candidates preferred).
• Experience in underground utilities, earthworks, and land development.
• Strong understanding of civil construction methods and sequencing.
• Proficiency in estimating software and Excel.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
• High attention to detail with strong organizational and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and quantity take-offs.
• Review drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
• Develop accurate pricing for labour, equipment, and materials.
• Analyze subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Identify project risks, opportunities, and value engineering options.
• Collaborate with project managers and operations teams to support successful bids.
