In this leadership role, you’ll oversee land development projects from concept through completion, manage key client relationships, and ensure the technical quality of engineering deliverables. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Keys to Success

  • Manage complex land development projects, ensuring alignment with scope, budget, schedule, and quality goals.
  • Serve as the engineering lead for high-profile clients, maintaining strong and proactive partnerships.
  • Oversee and implement quality control procedures for engineering deliverables.
  • Provide technical oversight on site development plans, stormwater reports, utility design, grading, and roadway improvements.
  • Directly supervise engineering staff and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Train, mentor, and develop junior engineers to strengthen team capacity and continuity.
  • Review and approve engineering designs to ensure compliance with standards, codes, and project objectives.
  • Collaborate with leadership on resource planning, process improvement, and project risk management.
  • Support business development by identifying opportunities and contributing to proposal efforts.
  • Engage with public agencies and stakeholders to facilitate permitting and project approvals.
  • Stay current with evolving regulations, emerging technology, and industry best practices.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 8+ years of civil engineering experience, focused on land development.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Washington.
  • Proven leadership of project teams and client relationships.
  • Strong working knowledge of local and regional development standards and permitting processes.
  • Demonstrated experience in engineering quality control and technical design review.
  • Skilled in AutoCAD Civil 3D and industry-relevant design tools.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead, coach, and inspire junior engineers.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in land development engineering, including project and staff management.
  • Experience with both private and public sector land development clients.
  • Familiarity with agency requirements in the Pacific Northwest region.
  • Business development experience, including proposal preparation and client engagement.
  • Proficiency with project management software (such as Microsoft Project, Deltek Ajera, or Deltek Vantagepoint).
  • A strong personal drive to lead, grow, and contribute to a collaborative and high-performing team.

Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as various market and business considerations. The wage range for this position is $145,000 - $180,000 annual salary, depending on experience.

Full-time employees receive a well-rounded benefits package, including access to our company-sponsored Medical, Dental, Vision, FSA, HSA and Supplemental Life Insurance plans. 100% company paid Life Insurance, Short Term , and Long Term coverage. Employees are eligible to participate in our company 401k plan with up to a 4% match Additionally, employees also receive paid vacation time, paid sick time, and 11 paid holidays. MacKay Sposito pays for expenses associated with licensure as well as annual profit-sharing bonuses.
