The Opportunity

McElhanney has an exciting opportunity for a Civil Designer to join our Prince George branch. The successful candidate will be working on a wide range of projects including water and wastewater, resource and mining, roads and pipelines, and construction support. We are seeking strong communicators with flexibility to support office and field tasks and experience in AutoCAD Civil3D.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Contribute to the cost effective and timely production of engineering designs, including roadways, drainage, and utilities that meet all client and approval agency requirements and standards.
  • Transform preliminary concepts and sketches into engineering designs and drawings, using primarily AutoCAD Civil3D.
  • Assist with development and construction cost estimates.
  • Complete field inspections to monitor the quality and progress of the work being performed.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure schedules, budgets, and quality control standards are achieved.
What You’ll Bring

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering or Design Technology with 2+ years of experience in civil design.
  • Proficiency in drafting using AutoCAD Civil3D is an asset.
  • Ability to register as an AScT or other technical accreditations is an asset.
  • Attention to detail and excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
What Can We Offer You?

The salary range for this position is $53,000 - $79,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate which can exceed the posted amount for more senior candidates.
