Your work environment at EXP

In this role, you will be part of the Mining team, based in either Sudbury, North Bay, Thunder Bay, Hamilton, or Brampton offices.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

• Complete engineering calculations and models for assessments such as seepage, stability, pipe and drainage ditch design, hydrology, hydraulics, erosion, solids settling, cover demonstrations, geochemistry, and statistics.
• Assist the Director of Engineering, Civil Engineers, and EITs with project scope, cost, and schedule delivery.
• Prepare technical specifications based on multidisciplinary input.
• Plan and execute field exploration programs, including soil boring, test pit logging, well installation, development, and sampling.
• Contribute to engineering, operating, and capital cost estimates.
• Review and evaluate technical work by junior and intermediate engineers, designers, technicians, and technologists.
• Manage projects for capital and maintenance work.
• Perform construction observation and quality assurance testing for Geosynthetics or Earthworks on civil or power projects.
• Develop interpretive reports supporting design and construction documents.
• Create grading plans and designs using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Assist in writing reports, cost estimates, specifications, and permit documents with senior review.

What Your Experience Looks Like

• Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Civil Engineering with PEO eligibility.
• Minimum 10 years of civil engineering design experience in mining or industrial projects.
• Experience in site development, pipe/hydraulics, and mine access road design.
• Tailings/slurry piping design experience is an asset.
• Knowledge of piping materials, fittings, and joining methods.
• Experience in stormwater management and runoff calculations.
• Understanding of coordinate systems and survey controls.
• Experience interpreting geotechnical design recommendations.
• Proficiency in technical reports, specifications, and material take-offs.
• Experience in procurement and technical evaluations of contracts.
• Strong organizational, technical, communication, and computer skills.
• Knowledge of civil design standards, mining laws, and construction methods.
