Job summary

CIMA+ is seeking a Civil Infrastructure Engineer in Western Canada to contribute from concept through construction on municipal, industrial, and urban infrastructure projects. You will lead site grading, drainage, and water/ wastewater design, coordinating with multiple disciplines and applying Civil3D and GIS tools.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering, 5+ years of experience, and P.Eng. eligibility in BC.

Qualifications

We are seeking a skilled Civil Infrastructure Engineer with strong experience in site development, grading design, site servicing (water, sewer, drainage), access roads, storm water management, and underground utility design and coordination. The successful candidate will contribute to municipal, industrial, and urban infrastructure projects from concept design through construction.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and support site grading design, including cut and fill analysis, earthwork balancing, and grading optimization
• Design surface water management systems, including major/minor drainage systems, stormwater conveyance, and detention strategies
• Prepare and review stormwater management plans in accordance with municipal standards and MMCD specifications
• Design underground infrastructure including storm, sanitary, and watermain systems, and utility connections
• Coordinate with utility authorities (water, sanitary, storm, hydro, telecom, gas) for service connections and conflict resolution
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic assessments to support drainage design
• Prepare detailed engineering drawings, grading plans, profiles, and servicing layouts using Civil 3D
• Utilize GIS tools for site analysis, utility mapping, and infrastructure planning
• Conduct site visits and inspections to verify grading, drainage installation, and utility works
• Prepare design calculations, technical reports, cost estimates, and quantity take-offs
• Ensure compliance with local municipal standards (Lower Mainland BC), MMCD specifications, and applicable regulations
• Select appropriate construction materials and ensure specification compliance
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless coordination between various aspects of design and construction. This includes working with environmental, structural, and other engineering disciplines.
• Assist in the preparation of tender documents, technical specifications, and support in the construction phases of projects.
• Participate in environmental assessments and regulatory compliance processes as they relate to infrastructure projects.
• Ensure that designs meet required codes, standards, and regulations, while also adhering to project timelines and budgets.
• Utilize Civil3D and/or InRoads/OpenRoads to prepare detailed engineering designs, drawings, and reports.
• Profile

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.

+5 years of relevant experience in civil engineering

Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or eligibility for registration, in British Columbia.

Experienced in the design of site development, site grading, paving design, site drainage design and construction administration.

Experience in water and wastewater pipeline and network design, hydraulic modelling, and transient (surge) analysis. is an asset.

Demonstrated experience in coordinating multi-disciplinary design teams and construction projects from concept to completion.

Experience coordinating topographic and legal surveys and geotechnical investigations and incorporating their findings into civil design.

Proficiency with design software such as Civil3D, and/or InRoads/OpenRoads, GIS.

Experience using relevant modelling and design software such as PCSWMM, InfoWater Pro, OpenFlows Water, OpenFlows Sewer, InRoads, OpenRoads, or equivalent tools.

Familiarity with relevant Federal and local (Lower mainland - BC) municipal engineering standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.

Effective communication skills for working with internal teams, clients, and regulatory authorities.

Familiarity with environmental requirements and permitting for civil infrastructure projects, including municipal permitting and approvals under British Columbia’s Water Sustainability Act (WSA) and requirements administered by Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO).
