Job summary

WSP Canada is seeking a Civil Engineering-in-Training to contribute to municipal infrastructure projects in Canada. You will participate in planning, design, and delivery of roadways, water distribution, sanitary sewers, and stormwater facilities, blending technical design with field reviews.

Join a multidisciplinary team, work on concept through construction, prepare drawings, perform hydrology calculations, and assist with permit applications while developing professionally toward EIT

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Eligible for registration or currently registered as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT).
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of municipal engineering design principles including grading, stormwater management, water distribution, and sanitary systems.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic and stormwater modeling software is considered an asset.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills for reports and field documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, plans, profiles, and construction documents using AutoCAD Civil 3D for municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Perform hydraulic, stormwater management, grading, and earthwork calculations to support project design and delivery.
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering reports, technical memoranda, and permit applications for municipal and regulatory approvals.
  • Collaborate with project managers, clients, contractors, and senior engineers to advance projects from concept through construction.
  • Conduct field reviews and site inspections to verify construction compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and applicable standards.
  • Document site progress, observations, and deficiencies through detailed field reports and photographic records.
  • Witness and record quality assurance testing activities, including soil compaction, concrete testing, and other construction verification processes.
  • Support the development of sustainable and resilient infrastructure that positively impacts local communities and future generations.

The Skills That Set You Apart
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Eligible for registration or currently registered as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with the applicable provincial engineering association.
  • Experience with or strong proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of municipal engineering design principles including grading, stormwater management, water distribution, and sanitary systems.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic and stormwater modeling software is considered an asset.
  • Strong technical writing skills with the ability to prepare clear and concise engineering reports and field review documentation.
  • Effective communication and coordination skills for working with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and contractors.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle, with the ability to travel to active project sites as required.

Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $66,700 - $88,400

MB & ON: $60,900 - $83,800

NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $60,300 - $80,000
