Main Purpose and Function
This position will provide Professional Engineer detailed design expertise for internal design projects related to streets and transpoortation, and will act as Engineer of Record in accordance with EGBC Quality Management Guidelines. This position also reviews civil roadworks design packages for works delivered through private development, including liaising with other teams, consultants, and developers. Furthermore, this position manages City rainwater surface runoff challenges and liases with members of the public to provide responses and solutions.
Other responsibilities may include supporting updates to the City’s Engineering Design Manual and specifications; managing or supporting streets and transportation related analysis, studies, designs, and construction, including topics such as design innovation, climate action initiatives, and asset resiliency; developing, compiling, and analyzing departmental metrics; and other duties as assigned.
When acting as the Engineer of Record in accordance with Quality Management procedures for assigned streets, transportation, and green rainwater infrastructure related design projects, this position will be responsible for directly supervising the work of CAD Designers and Drafters assigned to the project.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Works within a cohesive team in the Streets Design Branch in carrying out strategic plan and continuous improvement of services related to building and maintaining the City’s Street infrastructure.

Where operationally appropriate and subject to change, the City of Vancouver has a Flexible Work Program. This program allows staff to work a hybrid work week from locations that are a daily commutable distance from their work at a City worksite. At this time this position is eligible to be part of the Flexible Work Program.
