Job Type: Fixed-Term (6 Months)

Location: GTA (Greater Toronto Area) with occasional travel to Southwest Ontario

The next step involves executing a multi-billion dollar phased investment program dedicated to establishing large-scale plants across North America and Europe.

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Civil Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Owner’s Team and external contractors to ensure technical precision and alignment with project objectives. Your expertise will be essential in maintaining high standards across all phases of the project.

Key Responsibilities

Collaboration and Coordination:

  • Be an integrated part of the Owner’s Team, with dedicated discipline responsibilities
  • Review technical documentation, specifications, drawings, and calculations provided by the study contractor
  • Provide formal feedback and guidance to ensure required quality, accuracy, and adherence to project goals and all relevant specifications
  • Lead the internal civil engineering discipline team

Technical Expertise:
  • Oversee civil engineering projects, including infrastructure and site development
  • Perform structural analysis and design to ensure safety and reliability
  • Assess proposed specifications, designs, and construction plans
  • Evaluate the firm’s proposed solutions for safety, efficiency, and reliability
  • Address any discrepancies or deviations from project specifications
  • Propose useful document additions and improvements.

Quality Control and Verification:

  • Act as the company’s liaison with the study contractor and any other relevant third-party suppliers within the civil engineering discipline
  • Verify that design and engineering work align with project specifications, safety standards, and industry best practices
  • Ensure quality control of the study contractor’s proposal
  • Conduct thorough quality control checks on civil engineering projects, ensuring compliance with project requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
  • A minimum of 15 years of relevant industry experience, with a strong focus on greenfield, large-scale industrial projects, spanning from the FEED stage through to execution
  • Significant experience with infrastructure and site development projects
  • Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) designation in Ontario
  • Familiarity with relevant codes, standards, and regulations in Ontario
  • Proven experience in owner-side project oversight
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and coordination skills
