TWD is currently looking for a Civil Engineer, reporting to the Regional General Manager - Western Canada. This position is based at our Edmonton or Calgary, AB office.

Job Summary
As an integral member of the Civil Engineering team within a global engineering firm specializing in energy and infrastructure, the Civil Engineer – Earthworks is responsible for planning, designing, and overseeing the execution of earthworks activities across various infrastructure and energy-related projects. This role involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the delivery of efficient, sustainable, and cost-effective earthworks solutions in accordance with project objectives and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Earthworks Design & Planning
    • Develop and review design documentation for excavation, grading, site preparation, and embankment construction.
    • Prepare earthworks models, cut and fill calculations, and material balance assessments.
    • Collaborate with geotechnical and environmental engineers to ensure design integration and site suitability.
  • Project Coordination & Technical Support
    • Support project managers in delivering earthworks-related scopes within time and budget constraints.
    • Coordinate with survey teams, construction personnel, and subcontractors during planning and execution phases.
    • Provide technical input during the construction phase, including responding to RFIs, site visits, and resolving field issues.
  • Quality Assurance & Compliance
    • Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulatory requirements for earthworks.
    • Contribute to internal quality control processes, including review of drawings, specifications, and reports.
    • Maintain accurate documentation and support audits and reviews.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration
    • Liaise with structural, mechanical, and utility teams to ensure alignment of civil earthworks with overall project design.
    • Participate in design review meetings and contribute to integrated solutions for infrastructure development.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Cadwork / CAD full 3D model / Bluebeam would be an asset.
  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng. or equivalent) is preferred.
  • Proficiency in civil engineering design software (e.g., earthworks modeling, drafting, and design tools).
  • Strong understanding of soil mechanics, hydrology, and construction practices related to earthworks.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills, with a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, global project environment.
