Job Overview

WSP is seeking a motivated Civil Design Engineer to join our Calgary Land Development & Municipal Engineering (LDME) team. Reporting to the LDME Manager, this role involves designing a variety of projects such as site servicing, subdivisions, municipal water and wastewater infrastructure, roads, and industrial sites. You will collaborate with project managers, technical engineers, junior staff, and CAD technicians.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design land development and municipal infrastructure projects, including site developments, municipal upgrades, water resources, sewer and watermain systems, and roadways
  • Prepare analyses, designs, drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and reports
  • Provide technical advice and mentorship to team members
  • Support field staff during project construction and contract administration
  • Participate in the design process and coordinate with municipal/utility agencies
  • Assist in preparing RFPs, bids, and proposals
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Minimum 10+ years of municipal infrastructure or land development experience in public and private sectors
  • Degree or diploma in civil engineering from an accredited institution
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), P.L. Eng., or P. Tech license in Alberta
  • Knowledge of local standards, guidelines, and environmental regulations
  • Extensive experience with sewer, watermain, and road design
  • Familiarity with local planning and approval processes
  • Experience working with Alberta municipalities and First Nations is an asset
