Job summary

Sid Grabell Contracting is seeking an experienced Civil Construction Working Foreman to lead small field crews on underground utility projects in the Niagara Region. The role involves reading blueprints, enforcing safety, and delivering high-quality installations.

This hands-on leadership position requires operating or coordinating mini excavators, backhoes, and skid steers, mentoring crew members, and managing equipment, materials, and scheduling to meet deadlines while upholding Ontario safety

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in civil utility or underground construction, including crew supervision or foreman experience.
  • Hands-on experience operating mini excavators, backhoes, and skid steers.
  • Ability to read and work from blueprints, drawings, and site plans.
  • Knowledge of underground utility installation practices and materials (duct banks, vaults, pull boxes, pole bases).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Valid Ontario driver's licence and clean driving record.
  • Commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and teamwork.

About the Role

Sid Grabell Contracting (SGC) is a well-established electrical and civil utility contractor serving industrial, commercial, and utility clients throughout the Niagara Region. We are looking for an experienced Civil Construction Working Foreman to lead small field crews of 1-5 team members on underground utility projects, working alongside them to ensure safe, high-quality installations.

This is a hands‑on leadership role for a field professional with civil construction experience, strong safety focus, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and utility locates.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and work alongside field crews of 1-5 team members on underground utility construction projects, including hydro duct banks, vaults, pull boxes, and pole base installations.
