Details

The role: As part of the Long Range Planning team, you will be working in a fast-paced and customer service-oriented environment. The Planner II is responsible for a diverse workload and will act as a project manager for long range planning and sustainability projects and initiatives. The work involves conducting research and analysis, developing long range plans and policies, delivering public presentations, and providing technical advice to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. The incumbent will also conduct studies on a variety of land use, urban growth, environmental sustainability and community livability initiatives, and prepare comprehensive reports, recommendations and policy proposals; draft and amend bylaws; and facilitate public engagement.

What we offer:The 2025 rate of pay for this CUPE bargaining unit, long term auxiliary position is $48.17 per hour based on a 35-hour work week. Effective January 1, 2026 the rate of pay will be $49.74 per hour. For this 18 month term position, we offer a comprehensive benefits package which includes 3 weeks paid vacation, extended health and dental coverage, life insurance, and short term disability coverage.This position is eligible for flexible work arrangements which may include one of the following: compressed work week, earned day off or varied hours.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Undergraduate degree in Urban, Community or Regional Planning or a related field.
  • Be a member in good standing with the Planning Institute of British Columbia (PIBC) and actively pursuing full membership as a certified Registered Professional Planner.
  • Four (4) years of progressive planning experience within the last seven (7) years, in community or regional planning, preferable at the local government level.
