Qualifications

  • Valid Security License for Ontario is mandatory.
  • First Aid & CPR certification required.

Site Description:

City of Brampton’s Rapid Response provides a uniform security presence at various locations including Rose Theatre, City Hall, Civic Centre, and other Downtown Brampton facilities, properties, assets, and events.

Position: Full-Time Rapid Response Security Guard
Site: City of Brampton, 150 Central Park Drive, Brampton, ON L6V0A3
Hours: Continental Rotation, 1900-0700hrs
Payrate: $18.50/hr
Averaging Agreement: Overtime is under Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours

Schedule Example: Week 1 - Nights: Mon-Tues, Fri-Sat; Week 2 - Nights: Sun, Wed-Thurs; Week 3 - Nights: Mon-Tues, Fri-Sat; Week 4 - Nights: Sun, Wed-Thurs

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responding to and reporting incidents of criminal activity, suspicious activity, and hazards
  • Unlocking and locking doors and offices
  • Providing access control
  • Maintaining a visible security presence at various locations and customer service areas
  • Deterring and enforcing prohibited acts such as loitering, panhandling, smoking, skateboarding, and cycling
  • Securing buildings after hours
  • Completing patrols using electronic guard tour systems
  • Working independently or in teams
  • Conducting proactive patrols, addressing policy breaches, and noting facility concerns
  • Writing detailed incident reports for emergencies and daily activities
  • Investigating security alarms and emergencies professionally and promptly
  • Monitoring and controlling entrance and departure of personnel and visitors
  • De-escalating crises, providing support, and liaising with emergency services (police, fire, paramedics)
  • Contributing to team efforts to achieve related results
  • Logging key, radio, and pager audits
  • Handling lost & found items and inquiries
  • Reporting unsafe working conditions
  • Providing first aid and medical response when needed
  • Responding to various incidents and patrolling interior and exterior areas

Prerequisites:

  • Valid Security License for Ontario
  • Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from WSIB-approved vendor)
  • Covid-19 vaccination (two doses)
  • Valid G Class Driver License
  • Clean Driving Abstract
  • Fluency in English (oral and written)
  • Experience in security, law enforcement, or related fields preferred
  • Certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) required; candidates can opt into Paladin's training program prior to onboarding, which is unpaid but covered by Paladin with a 6-month commitment
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada
