Qualifications

Site Description:

City of Brampton’s Rapid Response will provide a uniform security presence at the various City of Brampton locations which includes; Rose Theatre, City Hall, Civic Centre and other Downtown Brampton facilities, properties, assets and events.

Position: Full-Time Rapid Response Security Guard
Site: City of Brampton, 150 Central Park Drive, Brampton, ON L6V0A3
Hours: Continental Rotation, 0700-1900hrs.
Payrate: $18.50/hr.
Averaging Agreement: Overtime is Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours

Schedule Example :
Week 1 - Days - Mon-Tues, Fri-Sat
Week 2 - Days - Sun, Wed-Thurs
Week 3 - Days - Mon-Tues, Fri-Sat
Week 4 - Days - Sun, Wed-Thurs

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responding to and reporting all incidents of criminal activity, suspicious activity and hazardous situations
  • Unlocking and locking doors and offices
  • Providing access control
  • Providing a uniform security presence within various locations and customer service areas
  • Deterring and enforcing prohibited acts such as loitering, panhandling, smoking, skateboarding and cycling
  • Ensuring the buildings are secured after hours
  • Completing patrols with the use of an electronic guard tour
  • Ability to work alone or in a team
  • Enthusiastically conducts proactive patrols, and be able to address policy breeches, and note facility concerns.
  • Ability to write detailed incident reports for all emergency and day to day activities
  • Attend and investigate security alarms and emergencies in a timely and professional manner as not to create a panic amongst the public
  • Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors and other persons
  • Ability to de-escalate a crisis, provide support and liaise with emergency personnel including; police, fire and paramedic resources.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Logging in/out of Key, Radio and pager audits
  • Handle Lost & Found items and inquiries
  • Report any unsafe working conditions in any/all departments
  • Ability to provide first aid and medical response when required to any person(s)
  • Respond to all types of occurrences.
  • Patrol interior and exterior


Prerequisites:

  • Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
  • Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a WSIB-approved vendor)
  • Covid Vaccine two doses
  • Valid G class Driver License
  • Clean Driving Abstract
  • English (oral and written) fluency is a must
  • Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
  • Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
  • Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
  • Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
  • Must be authorized to legally work in Canada
