Site Description:
City of Brampton is a diverse, cosmopolitan, and vibrant place to be. From a population of 523,911 in 2011, Brampton is now Canada’s second fastest growing and 9th largest city. Located immediately north of Lester B. Pearson International Airport, Brampton has positioned itself as a global economic contender. The City of Brampton is looking for Security Guards for various locations. In each location, strict but diplomatic enforcement of security is required. You will, in the course of your duties, encounter numerous situations which cannot be covered by Standing Orders, site specific security operations procedures which outlines the duties and contain property and facility information. For this reason, it is imperative that you have a proven ability to use your own initiative and judgement and can represent the City of Brampton in a firm but courteous manner.

Position: Full-Time Security Guard
Site: City of Brampton, City Hall Campus - 2 Wellington Street West, Brampton, ON L6Y1M8
Hours: Rotating; 1900-0700hrs.
Payrate: $20.91/hr.
Averaging Agreement: Overtime is Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours

Schedule Example:

  1. Week 1 - Night - Mon-Tues, Fri-Sat
  2. Week 2 - Night - Sun, Wed-Thu
  3. Week 3 - Night - Mon-Tues, Fri-Sat
  4. Week 4 - Night - Sun, Wed-Thu
Key Responsibilities:
  • Be an accurate and dependable resource having knowledge about services on campus
  • Comprehend and demonstrate competencies of City of Brampton and the Security policies and procedures with a customer service approach
  • Be attentive to the needs of the visitors and build relationships with the city community.
  • Keep an open and objective mind, remembering the city’s diverse community.
  • Encourage a safe and supportive environment.
  • Assist visitors and employees during crises and contact the necessary emergency services as needed
  • Frequently inspect the facility for damage and report to management.
  • Ensure that the property is safe by ensuring all security measures are functioning properly
  • Ability to work alone or in a team
  • Conduct proactive patrols (exterior and interior), address policy breaches, and note facility concerns.
  • Write detailed incident reports for all emergency and day-to-day activities
  • Attend and investigate security alarms and emergencies in a timely and professional manner
  • Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons
  • De-escalate crises, provide support, and liaise with emergency personnel including police, fire, and paramedic resources.
  • Log in/out of Key, Radio, and pager audits
  • Handle Lost & Found items and inquiries
  • Report any unsafe working conditions
  • Provide first aid and medical response when required
  • Respond to all types of occurrences.
  • Maintain positive and constructive relationships with The Client’s staff and external clients
  • Patrol interior and exterior
  • Perform duties assigned by the Security Leadership team and respond to the directions of the client; City of Brampton
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the City.

Prerequisites:

  • Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
  • Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a WSIB-approved vendor)
  • Covid Vaccine two doses
  • Valid G class Driver License
  • English (oral and written) fluency is a must
  • Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
  • Must provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
  • Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training
