POSITION OVERVIEW:
Pick up and deliver freight between Service Centers and customers, supporting the selling process.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles (and triples where applicable) and/or straight trucks.
- Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment.
- Hook and unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from tractors and trailers.
- Handle freight using appropriate motorized and manual equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
- Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, and ropes.
- Recoup or repair damaged freight when necessary.
- Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
- Comply with hazardous material regulations and procedures.
- Collect freight charges via cash or checks and maintain documentation.
- Follow dispatch instructions, communicating delays, arrivals, and equipment issues.
- Communicate with customers regarding pick-up or delivery needs and solicit additional business.
- Provide excellent internal and external customer service.
- Seek additional business opportunities from customers and relay leads to sales.
- Perform chaining of vehicle tires if required.
- Perform duties of a road driver or dock employee as operationally necessary.
- Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Possess a valid Class A CDL with double/triple, hazardous materials, and tank endorsements; automatic transmission restriction allowed.
- Have at least one year of recent driving experience or have completed the FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
- Maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
- Meet all DOT regulatory requirements under section 391 of FMCSA regulations.
- Operate Long Combination Vehicles (LCV) in specified states, meeting qualification standards.
- Basic math skills, including counting and performing calculations.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to lift and carry freight weighing up to 100 pounds multiple times a week.
- Ability to sit for extended periods, and perform physical activities like bending, twisting, squatting, and climbing.
- Follow instructions and complete required training.
- Work independently and in team settings.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Drive on various roads and weather conditions.
- Expose to noise, vibration, dust, diesel fumes, and hazardous materials.
- Hours may vary based on operational needs.
*Hazardous Materials endorsement must be obtained within 120 days of offer acceptance.

Pay: Hourly range: $30.35 - $35.13; linehaul mileage pay: $0.6953 - $0.8049 per mile, plus fixed pay for tasks.
Starting Rate of Pay: $30.35/hour
