Job summary

NetEase Games in Canada seeks an experienced Animation Director to lead performance animation for key story sequences and cinematics, overseeing facial performances, dialogue scenes, and action-driven performances to ensure emotional authenticity and cinematic quality.

You will collaborate with Art, Design, and Engineering to establish production pipelines and animation standards, drive scalable content creation workflows, and optimize motion capture and in-engine integration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above in Animation, Film, Directing, Digital Media Arts or related disciplines.
• 3+ years of experience in Animation Direction, Action Director, Performance Animator, or related role in film or game industry with portfolio examples.
• Strong cinematic language, character acting, and emotional storytelling.
• Proficiency in motion capture data processing, keyframe animation, and in-engine performance integration.
• Ability to collaborate with Art, Design and Engineering teams to drive production standards and pipeline execution.
• Experience establishing animation standards, optimizing workflows, and delivering higher quality across teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and execution of performance animation for key story sequences and interactive cinematics, overseeing facial performances, dialogue scenes, and action-driven performances to ensure cinematic quality.
• Collaborate with Art, Design, and Engineering teams to establish and maintain production pipelines and quality standards for performance animation.
• Define production guidelines and animation standards for facial performances, dialogue scenes, and character acting, driving scalable content creation workflows.
• Leverage experience from film and game industries to optimize motion capture and keyframe animation pipelines, solving technical challenges and enhancing character performances.
