The Salvation Army is seeking a temporary casual relief team member for the Christmas Kettle Campaign in the Comox Valley area. You will collect donations, answer questions, maintain a positive image, and support program operations while adhering to policies and safety rules.

Ideal candidates have a High School diploma or equivalent, strong interpersonal and customer service skills, reliable transportation, and the ability to stand for long periods; flexibility for varied shifts is essential.

Responsabilités

• Remain at the Kettle for the full shift (until relieved), ensuring security of donations received.
• Respond to questions/queries from potential donors regarding SA ministries and programs.
• Present a positive image and represent TSA well while on duty.
• Work with minimal supervision.
• Collect donations and petty cash and ensure donations are always kept secure.
• Standing for long periods will be required; flexible shifts including weekends.

Applicable shifts include a ½ hour unpaid meal break.Flexibility in scheduling is required, as the hours may increase as per the Christmas Kettle Campaign operational requirements.Required to wear appropriate Salvation Army identification.Local travel may be associated with this position.Work environment is typically in malls/storesStanding for long periods will be required and exposure to cold weather.The above responsibilities must be performed in keeping with The Salvation Army’s Mission, Vision, and Values, in a professional manner, upholding our code of conduct.Education, Qualifications and Certifications:Completed High School or equivalentRelated experience is an assetSkills and Capabilities:Excellent interpersonal skills, integrity, and adaptability.Ability to work with minimal supervision.Reliable transportation to kettle location.Able to lift 9 to 12 kgs (20 – 25 lbs.).Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.Honest, courteous, and punctual; re present the organization in a positive, professional, and engaging manner.Strong customer service skills; enjoy liaising and working with people of all ages and abilities.Willingness to be flexible and work well under pressure with daily timelines and changing priorities.Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in the handling of donors, volunteer, and organizational information.Treat the property of The Salvation Army with due care and caution.Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.Compensation:The target hiring range for this position is $18.25 to $21.04 with a maximum of $23.82.Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.The Salvation Army will provide reasonable accommodation upon request.
