Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a temporary Christmas Kettle Driver to deliver and pick up kettles across Barrie and surrounding areas. You will represent the organization professionally while following schedules and safety guidelines.

Requirements include a High School diploma, a valid Ontario G license, and access to an insured vehicle. You will engage with staff, volunteers and the public in a courteous manner and lift up to 25 lbs as needed.

Qualifications

• Completed High School or equivalent.
• Valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's License; insured personal vehicle required.
• Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and/or pick up kettles from assigned locations throughout the City of Barrie and surrounding area in a timely manner.
• Deliver kettles to their final daily destination and help empty the kettle contents into the deposit bags.
• Follow the provided schedule.
• Greet staff/ clients/ volunteer/ general public in a friendly and professional manner.
• Be presentable and approachable as an ambassador of The Salvation Army.

Job Description

Position Purpose summary: The Christmas Kettle Driver is responsible to deliver and pick up kettles from various assigned locations in the City of Barrie and the surrounding area.

Accountabilities

• Deliver and/or pick up kettles from assigned locations throughout the City of Barrie and surrounding area in a timely manner
• Deliver kettles to their final daily destination and help empty the kettle contents into the deposit bags
• Follow the provided schedule
• Greet staff/ clients/ volunteer/ general public in a friendly and professional manner
• Follow policies and procedures of The Salvation Army
• Be presentable and approachable as an ambassador of The Salvation Army
• Maintains daily mileage log
• Lift items in a safe manner
• Perform other duties as required.

Working Conditions

This is a temporary position. Shifts are Monday through Saturday (approximately 2 hours per day) Required to wear appropriate Salvation Army identification. The above responsibilities must be performed in keeping with The Salvation Army's Mission, Vision and Values, in a professional manner, upholding our code of conduct.

Education, Qualifications and Certifications

• Completed High School or equivalent
• Valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's License, insured personal vehicle required, current copy of driver’s abstract for review and verification that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.
• Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Skills and Capabilities

• Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, and provide an original copy of a Background Check
• Excellent interpersonal skills, integrity, and adaptability.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
• Able to work independently and manage time well
• Ability to work as a team member with other staff and volunteers
• Sympathetic and willing to adhere to the philosophies, policies, and value of The Salvation Army
• Ability to work under pressure, work efficiently, follow instructions, and think independently
• Able to work Monday through Saturday up to December 24, 2026
• Ability to represent The Salvation Army in a positive and professional manner in the community
• Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army's health and safety policies and procedures.
• Honest, courteous, and punctual; represent the organization in a positive, professional, and engaging manner.
• Treat the property of The Salvation Army with due care and caution.
• Attentive listening skills for the purpose of supervision, coaching, and conflict resolution.
• Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.

Compensation

The target hiring range for this position is $20.09 to $25.11 with a maximum of $30.13. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
