Job summary

Outside Looking In invites a part-time Choreographer/Dance Educator to join our Indigenous youth programs across Canada. This hybrid role blends choreography and instruction with hands-on community coordination, with about 75% artistic work and 25% program administration on-site with youth.

Qualifications

• Strong background in dance performance, instruction, and choreography.
• Experience working with youth and diverse communities.
• Reliable, organized, adaptable with strong communication.
• Ability to work independently in community and with a remote team.
• Access to stable internet and private workspace.
• Willingness to travel frequently to remote communities.
• Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.

Responsibilities

• Choreography & Artistic Leadership (75%): plan and facilitate engaging dance classes, create original choreography, conduct performance assessments, and mentor participants.
• Produce tutorial videos to support youth learning between visits.
• Collaborate on production needs including costumes and music selection.
• Mentor junior choreographers and OLI Future Leaders high school participants.
• Community Coordination (25%, In-Community): supervise rehearsals, complete assessments, set up meetings with volunteers and education leadership, and troubleshoot day-of needs.
• Handle light remote coordination related to upcoming trips (rehearsal space, accommodations, transportation).
