Job summary

Domtar is seeking a dedicated individual for the Chip plant cleanup at Port Mellon, British Columbia. This full-time permanent role offers an hourly rate of $32.04, with opportunities for overtime and weekend shifts.

The candidate should have a high school diploma or equivalent (beneficial) and at least 1 year of chip plant experience. A valid driver’s license and first aid level 3 certification are preferred. Safety and teamwork are essential to succeed in this position.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent beneficial.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience working in a chip plant and operating equipment for the plant.
• Valid driver’s license is highly preferred.
• Valid first aid level 3 certificate or willingness to be put through the course will be given priority in hiring process.
• Willingness to work various shifts, including weekends, and overtime as needed.
• Completion of pre-employment screening processes, reference check, prior work verification.
• Ability to make it to and from work on a daily basis.

Responsibilities

• Do all aspects of job safely.
• Use chainsaw.
• Assist other workers in area.
• Clean all areas of the Chip Plant.
• Perform Fire Watch as required during and following Hot Work.
• All other duties requested by management.

Education and Experience:

• While formal education isn’t always required, having a high school diploma or equivalent is beneficial.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience working in a chip plant and operating equipment for the plant

Skills and Abilities:

• Mechanical aptitude
• Physically fit
• First Aid Certified is an asset
• Work in dusty environments
• Ability to operate equipment and tools such as Bob Cat Skid Steer, Ditch Witch, Hand Tools, Come-Along, Line Winch, Air Wands, and Chain Saws
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
• Ability to adhere to all safety policies and regulations, including wearing safety equipment.

Certifications and Licenses:

• Valid driver’s license is highly preferred.

Must be able to recognize issues with equipment and follow through with reporting and ensuring repairs have been completed. The hourly rate for this position is $32.04
