Job summary

Mad Science & Imagine Arts Academy in Toronto is seeking outgoing instructors for lunch and after-school programs. You will visit schools, libraries, camps and community centers to deliver engaging science demonstrations to children aged 4–12. This is a part-time role with a flexible schedule and travel between sites.

Pay is per session (example: one-hour session with onsite prep/cleanup) at $44 per session, with some travel compensation. Prior theater or performance experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Outgoing and dynamic personality essential.
• Experience presenting to groups of children aged 4–12.
• Theater experience is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
• Vulnerable Sector Screening required at time of hiring.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging science presentations at schools, libraries, camps and homes.
• Instruct lunch and after‑school programs for children.
• Manage groups of children and ensure safety during activities.
• Travel to multiple sites and prepare/cleanup between sessions.

Build and fly rockets, demonstrate lasers, explore the states of matter using dry ice, and help children create slime and other polymers. You will inspire the next generation of scientists through our innovative activities that show kids what science is really all about.

Availability Requirements:

• Available from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM for lunch programs and/or 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM for after-school programs. Monday-Friday Only.

Our After-School Programs are scheduled after the school day ends for one-hour sessions in schools & in community centers.

This is a part-time job, but we prefer someone with a flexible schedule who can take on many opportunities when given plenty of notice.

Pay is based on per session, not per hour. For example: For a one-hour class you are expected to be onsite 15 min before the start of the program and 15 min after the program for clean-up. $44 is the rate for the entirety of the session. There is some compensation for travel in addition to your class rate.

Requirements:

• An OUTGOING and DYNAMIC personality
• Enjoys performing in front of an audience
• Experience with groups of children ages 4-12
• Some experience in theater a plus.
• Valid License & Access to a Vehicle (A MUST!)
• A cell phone
• Excellent verbal communication skills
• Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
