We are looking to recruit Full-Time Childminding Supervisors for the upcoming Winter season. The Childminding Supervisor is responsible for directing the daily operations of the Sports School’s licensed childcare facility. One of the best features of our Resort is our excellent childcare centre, located at the base of the Sunburst and Sundance chairlifts. You will work alongside a welcoming team and have 3 mountains to play on! If this sounds like the perfect work environment.

Compensation Information: $22.45 per hour
Physical Requirement: Medium; work activities involve handling loads up to 20kg; predominantly in an indoor setting.
This job position requires physical presence at the designated location.
The perks and benefits you’ll get to enjoy:
  • Winter/Summer Season Lift, Trail and Golf passes (varies by position)
  • Access to our Employee and Family Assistance Program
  • Dining discounts within our hotel & Resort-owned outlets
  • Retail discounts in our Resort-owned outlets
  • Friends and family rates at the Sun Peaks Grand Hotel
  • Reciprocal programs with partnering ski areas & hotels

This role is eligible for an incentive for successful applicants to receive $1 per hour worked based on completion of a full winter season contract. Conditions apply to this incentive and will be shared during the interview and onboarding.

Skills you bring with you:
  • Licensing & Certification: Must hold an active, valid Early Childhood Educator (ECE) License to Practice in British Columbia in good standing. Must possess a current Child Care First Aid & CPR Certificate (or provincial equivalent) approved by BC licensing authorities.
  • Experience: Minimum of three years of demonstrated experience working within a professional childcare facility, alongside at least one year of experience supervising and directing early childhood staff.
  • Technical Proficiency: Highly computer literate with practical experience navigating Microsoft Office Suite and internal enrollment/scheduling databases (such as RTP)
  • Legal & Compliance: Legally authorized to work in Canada for the specified winter season contract. Must successfully pass a BC Criminal Record Review Program (CRRP) screening prior to employment as a mandatory condition for working with children in a licensed facility. Providing proof of immunization status disclosure is required by provincial health regulations.
  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills with polished interpersonal competencies to manage relationship boundaries with parents, guardians, and licensing officers.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and audit the daily schedule of childcare participants registered in concurrent Sports School lessons, coordinating directly with the Sports School Supervisors to cross-reference instructor assignments.
  • Enforce and document a strict, signed Transfer of Custody Protocol for every child transitioning out of the daycare into a lesson, and back into daycare care at the conclusion of the lesson.
  • Monitor and manage staff indoor ratios during lesson transition windows, ensuring that dressing children in winter equipment and escorting them to on-snow instructors never drops the facility below BC statutory educator-to-child limits.
  • Ensure all children participating in on-snow lessons are correctly outfitted with mandated personal protective equipment (PPE), including resort-approved helmets and securely fitted winter outerwear, prior to leaving the childcare floor.
  • Act as the central communication point for parents regarding their child's daily schedule, ensuring clear expectations are set regarding lesson start times, duration, and post-lesson care hand-backs
  • Provide a stimulating, caring, inclusive, safe, and clean care environment tailored to the developmental needs of children aged 3 to 5 years.
  • Ensure children’s physical safety by continuously inspecting facilities to identify, prevent, and mitigate potential environmental risks, structural hazards, or health exposures.
  • Direct and enforce strict hygiene practices, including scheduled child hand-washing routines and rigorous housekeeping duties (e.g., ensuring toys, furniture, eating surfaces, and equipment are appropriately cleaned and sanitized).
  • Maintain physical capability to execute the facility's emergency evacuation protocols, including the safe moving and physical transferring of children during a crisis.
  • Provide daily pedagogical direction, logistical support, and performance coaching to the childcare team.
  • Manage and audit employee daily hours, ensuring accurate real-time tracking of all paid operational, administrative, and cleaning activities in the system.
  • Model exceptional guest service standards and implement professional service-recovery tactics to efficiently resolve parent inquiries, complaints, or escalated operational concerns.
  • Execute on-site incident documentation, primary first-aid coordination, and parental notification procedures according to provincial licensing mandates and resort risk management frameworks.
  • Assist the Manager with generating compliance documentation for licensing officers and organizing workplace safety tracking for Return-to-Work (RTW) procedures.
