Job summary

The Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board in Brantford, Ontario, seeks a Child and Youth Worker for a full-time, 35-hour week, 10-month position. Effective immediately, the role is permanent within a Christ-centered educational community.

The successful candidate will hold a three-year CYW diploma with at least two years of related experience, strong group-work skills, and the ability to collaborate with teachers, parents and community partners.

Qualifications

• Three-year post-secondary CYW diploma required.
• Minimum of two years related job experience in child/youth work.
• Strong knowledge of group work practice.
• Ability to function independently within a team.
• Self-starter with strong organizational skills and caseload management.
• Ability to work calmly, compassionately with students; maintain confidentiality.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Participate in meeting social, emotional and behavioural objectives for students.
• Assist in planning and delivering social, emotional and behavioural management programs.
• Provide support in collaboration with teachers, parents and other services.
• Assist in implementing therapeutic programs for individuals and small groups.
• Provide counseling and crisis intervention to individuals and groups.
• Monitor student behavior and inform staff of progress.
• Liaise with parents and community agencies via the Principal.
• Deliver disciplinary measures in line with Code of Behavior and Catholic values.
• Attend staff meetings and perform other duties as assigned.
