Job Description

Reporting to the Program Lead, Integrated Child and Youth Teams or Manager, the Child and Youth Outreach Counsellor provides triage, screening / assessment, urgent clinical response, short-term psychotherapeutic / stabilization services, exploration of community resources, and client needs assessment. The role involves liaison and coordination with community services and participation in planning for children and youth experiencing mental health crises. The counselor assesses high-risk children and youth with complex mental, emotional, behavioral, physical, psychosocial, and environmental issues, including suicide risk.
Travel is required, and transportation arrangements must meet Island Health's operational requirements, possibly including the use of a personal vehicle.
