Job summary

Le Centre de santé mentale Royal recherche un Conseiller en santé mentale des enfants et des jeunes pour développer et mettre en œuvre des programmes thérapeutiques. Ce poste exige une collaboration étroite avec l'équipe de traitement pour procéder à des évaluations complètes et assurer un environnement thérapeutique sécurisé. Les candidats doivent avoir un diplôme approprié et une expérience dans un milieu de soins thérapeutiques, avec des compétences en communication et en gestion de crise.

Qualifications

• Expérience de travail avec des jeunes dans un milieu thérapeutique.
• Compétences préalables en DBT avec des jeunes à risque.
• Formation en CPR et sécurité sur le lieu de travail.

Responsibilities

• Planifier et mettre en œuvre des programmes pour des jeunes avec des troubles psychiatriques.
• Maintenir des dossiers précis pour les rapports réguliers.
• Superviser les étudiants conseillers en soins aux enfants et aux jeunes.

Job description

Duties:

• Plan and implement Child and Youth Counsellor Programs for youth with early onset major psychiatric disorders.
• Maintain accurate records and statistics for regular reporting.
• Collaborate with other Child and Youth Counsellors and treatment team members to provide comprehensive assessment and treatment services.
• Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment within the unit, including crisis management.
• Supervise Child and Youth Counsellor Students as needed.
• Provide coverage across all units (inpatient, partial, and day treatment).
• Manage crisis situations following policy and guidelines for intake procedures.
• Lead and participate in groups with patients and families.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• Work in accordance with staff and patient safety practices, policies, and procedures of The Royal.

Qualifications:

• Child & Youth Care Advanced Diploma or Bachelor of Child & Youth Care.
• Experience working with youth in a therapeutic milieu.
• Ability to establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with youth and collaborate with team members.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience with DBT treatment modalities and working with high-risk youth is preferred.
• Willingness to work variable hours and participate in all Child and Youth Counsellor Programs as set by the Department/Program.
• Ability to develop, implement, and facilitate groups.
• Up-to-date CPR and Safety and Security in the Workplace training.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in computer skills relevant to patient record keeping.
• English proficiency at level A (oral comprehension, expression, reading, and writing); bilingual (French/English) is an asset.
