Job summary

Highland Shores Children’s Aid is seeking a Family Services Worker to join the team in Belleville, Ontario. The role focuses on receiving referrals, investigating potential maltreatment, and providing protective services under Ministry Standards.

Preferred candidates hold a Bachelor of Social Work (MSW an asset) with knowledge of the CYFSA, trauma-informed practice, and strong counseling and interview skills for children, youth, and families.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Social Work required, or related field with 2 years’ direct service experience.
• MSW degree would be an asset.
• Knowledge of Child, Youth and Family Services Act and related ministry services.
• Trauma-informed understanding of child development and family systems.
• Forensic interviewing techniques.
• Ability to assess risk to children and families.
• Solutions-focused, strengths-based practice.
• Strong interviewing and counselling skills with children, youth and families.
• Proficient in documenting and meeting administrative requirements.
• Proven organizational and caseload management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Investigate allegations of child maltreatment and provide protective services per Ministry Standards.
• Assess presenting problems and develop case plans.
• Provide ongoing case management and coordination with families and community resources.
• Maintain collaborative relationships with children, youth, families, staff, foster/adoptive families and kin networks.
• Document clearly and meet recording responsibilities.
