Base pay range

CA$57.32/hr - CA$70.64/hr

This role involves providing assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and consultation services to children, primarily focusing on diagnosing Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and following up with referred children. The Psychologist offers clinical expertise, supports program development, and collaborates with health, social, and educational resources to enhance service delivery. The position reports to the Supervisor of Pediatric Psychology Services.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments for toddlers, preschool, and early school-age children to diagnose autism spectrum disorders using evidence-based tools and doctoral-level clinical knowledge.
  2. Administer, score, and interpret tools like ADOS-2 and ADI-R as part of the assessment process.
  3. Maintain current knowledge of DSM-5 standards.
  4. Communicate assessment findings clearly to parents and relevant professionals, ensuring confidentiality.
  5. Provide recommendations and referrals based on assessment outcomes.
  6. Offer intervention services to families of children awaiting or having completed assessments, utilizing behavioral, cognitive-behavioral, and family-oriented approaches.
  7. Contribute to training doctoral psychology students and provide clinical observation opportunities.
  8. Consult with professionals such as pediatricians, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, and educators on individual cases or ASD-related topics.
  9. Lead program planning, development, and quality improvement initiatives for client services.

Minimum qualifications include:

  1. Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology with child and youth specialization.
  2. Membership or eligibility for registration with the PEI Psychology Registration Board.
  3. Extensive experience with ASD diagnostic tools, including formal training in ADOS-2 and ADI-R.
  4. Experience providing interventions for preschool children with developmental disabilities and behavioral challenges.
  5. Ability to work effectively with young children and families, demonstrating strong observational skills and developmental understanding.
  6. Clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check.
  7. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  8. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  9. Proven punctuality and work ethic.

Salary Range: $57.32 - $70.64 per hour (L20B)

Bi-Weekly Hours: 75 hours, with potential evening and weekend work.
