Job summary

BGC Okanagan in Penticton, BC, is hiring a part-time Child Care Worker (PAL) to join our school-age program. You will guide children through meaningful activities, promote safety, and foster a welcoming space where every child feels a sense of belonging.

The role offers flexible hours (25 hours/week, Mon-Fri 12:45pm–6:15pm), a competitive hourly rate of $22.60, and opportunities for ongoing professional development, with a focus on fair, inclusive hiring and community engagement.

Qualifications

  • Diploma/Certificate or relevant experience with children.
  • Age 19+ (Provincial Licensing Standard).
  • Current First Aid Certificate and Food Safe certifications.
  • Class 4 Driver’s Licence.
  • Successful completion of Agency screening process, including criminal record check.

Responsibilities

  • Caring, nurturing, supervision and safety of children aged 6–12.
  • Plan and implement activities and special events for the program.
  • Use Club Vans to drop off/pick up children from school and transport to sites.
  • Recruit, select, dismiss, orient, train, and monitor program volunteers.
  • Liaise with community service providers to coordinate service provision and referrals.
  • Establish open communication with parents/caregivers.
  • Ensure goals of children and program are met.
  • Adhere to Agency Policies, program standards, safety regulations and risk management.
  • Maintain records and statistics and produce reports.

BGC Okanagan is hiring a part-time Child Care Worker (PAL) for our Penticton Club. Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for caring, nurturing, supervision and safety of children (6 – 12 years old).
  • Plans and implements activities and special events for a program.
  • Use Club Vans to drop off and pick up children from school and transport to various sites for recreational purposes.
  • Recruits, selects, dismisses, orients, trains, monitors and provides support to program volunteers.
  • Liaises with community service providers and other professionals to coordinate service provision, facilitate referrals to the program and represent the organization or program in external events.
  • Establish open communication with parents/care givers.
  • Ensure that specific goals of children and program are met.
  • Ensure Agency Policies and Procedures, program standards, WCB standards, Community Care Licensing regulations, risk management requirements and general facility safety standards are met
  • Maintains related records and statistics and produces reports as required.
Qualifications:
  • A diploma, certificate and/or relevant experience working with children in recreation, education or other social services.
  • Must be at least 19 years of age (as per Provincial Licensing Standards)
  • Current First Aid Certificate and Food Safe (or willingness to obtain)
  • Class 4 Driver’s Licence
  • Successful completion of Agency screening process, including criminal record check

$22.60 per hour
