Job summary

YMCA of Three Rivers in Waterloo Region is seeking a Child Care Supervisor (RECE) to lead a team in a welcoming, inclusive licensed child care centre. The role focuses on high quality care, staff development, and family partnerships.

You will supervise staff, manage enrolments and ensure regulatory compliance, while promoting child learning through Ontario’s pedagogy and YMCA curriculum.

Qualifications

  • Registered or in process with CECE, in good standing.
  • Minimum 3–4 years supervisory experience in licensed child care.
  • Knowledge of Child Care and Early Years Act (2014) and related pedagogy.
  • Ability to lead diverse teams and build relationships with families and partners.
  • First Aid and CPR Level C certification; up-to-date immunizations.
  • Must be 18+ and legally entitled to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team to provide high quality licensed child care.
  • Provide supervision, development and coaching opportunities.
  • Manage administrative tasks including compliance and enrolment.
  • Develop strong relationships with children, families, educators and partners.

Child Care Supervisor (RECE) – Full Time

Location: St. Andrew YMCA Child Care, Waterloo Region (New Centre)

Location may be different if internal movement takes place and backfill is needed.

Work Hours: 7.5 hours per day, Monday to Friday. Shifts will vary between 7:00am – 6:00pm.

What you will do…
  • You will lead a team in providing welcoming and inclusive environments where children and families have access to high quality licensed child care that influences positive child and family outcomes.
  • You will provide effective supervision, support, development and coaching opportunities which will increase the knowledge, skills and confidence of your team.
  • You will manage administrative responsibilities including meeting legislative compliances, financial accountabilities, employee, student and volunteer records and centre enrolment which will ensure the efficient and effective day to day operation of the centre.
  • You will develop strong relationships with children, families, educators, volunteers, and community partners through meaningful connections and communication.
  • You will foster a positive team environment by organizing and participating in ongoing professional learning, reflection and goal setting with your team.
  • You will support all ages and stages of development by ensuring the delivery of high quality licensed child care experiences that encourage children’s exploration, play and inquiry, supported by Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years, How Does learning Happen? and YMCA Curriculum.
What you will bring…
Registered Early Childhood Educator:
  • Registered (or proof that registration is in process) and in good standing in the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE)
  • A minimum of 3-4 years of supervisory experience in a licensed child care setting.
General Qualifications:
  • You have strong knowledge and demonstrated expertise in the Child Care and Early Years Act (2014), the Early Learning for Every Child Today document, How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years and The Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
  • You have experience leading diverse teams in creating environments that nurture positive, responsive relationships with children, parents/caregivers and community partners.
  • Relationship building, communication, coaching and mentoring, problem solving and critical reflection are key competencies you rely on in your day to day work.
  • Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification prior to the first day of work
  • Up-to-date immunizations required by Public Health
  • Flexibility and adaptability regarding assigned working hours
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and building a sense of belonging
  • Applicants are required to be a minimum of 18 years of age or older as per Ministry guidelines
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
