Job summary

YMCA of Southwestern Ontario is seeking a Registered Early Childhood Educator at St. Joseph YMCA in Corunna, ON. This rural, contract role supports a child-centered program for 0–6 year olds and requires CECE registration. You will contribute to a caring community and operational safety.

The position offers a 37.5-hour week, shift rotations, and total compensation including YMCA membership, vacation entitlement, personal days, pension, and wellness services.

Qualifications

  • Registered member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators, Ontario (CECE).
  • First Aid and CPR Level C certification or scheduled training within three months.
  • Vulnerable Sector Check in appropriate form and up-to-date immunizations.
  • Minimum 18 years of age and eligibility to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver a consistent child-centred program using YMCA curriculum for 0–6 year olds.
  • Provide quality care and support to children and families.
  • Ensure child supervision and safety, following policies and procedures.
  • Promote diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging within the centre.
  • Embody the YMCA core values in daily practice.

Position: Registered Early Childhood Educator (CONTRACT)
Licensed Child Care Centre:

St, Joseph YMCA, Corunna, ON

This is rural location. Public transportation is not available.

Start Date: Within a two-week notice period from the date of offer

Term: October 2026 - September 2027

Compensation:
  • Members of the College of Early Childhood Educators, Ontario - starting at $50,700 per year (includes government wage enhancements for RECE's)

Schedule:
  • 7.5 hour workday, Monday through Friday, 37.5 hour work week
  • Required to rotate shifts that cover the full hours of operation of the centre
In this role, you will:
  • Plan and deliver a consistent child-centered program, in accordance with our YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum (0-6 year olds)
  • Provide quality compassionate care and support to children and their families
  • Ensure supervision and safety of children at all times; Understand and comply with provincial (CCEYA), municipal and YMCA policies and procedures
  • Be committed to diversity, equity, inclusion and building a sense of belonging
  • Embrace and exemplify the Y’s core values
Education & Skills Qualifications:
  • Registered member (or proof that registration is in process) and in good standing in the College of Early Childhood Educators, Ontario (CECE)
  • Graduates in a related field of study must be members of their associations as required
  • Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification or include the date of training scheduled within the next three months. Training cost and time is at the expense of the applicant and not reimbursed
  • Applicants are required to be a minimum of 18 years of age or older to obtain a current Vulnerable Criminal Reference Check (less than 6 months old)
  • Up-to-date immunizations required by Public Health, Ministry of Education and YMCASWO
  • Ability to use frequent light to medium physical effort: lifting to 20 kg (44 lbs.), bending, and stooping
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
