The Regina Open Door Society (RODS) is a non-profit organization that provides settlement and integration services to refugees and immigrants in Regina. The Regina Open Door Society Inc. is seeking qualified individuals to fill a full-time, term position of Child and Youth Worker from June 23rd, 2025, to August 29th, 2025.

Requirements

Applicants must meet all the following criteria:

  1. Be enrolled or returning students in post-secondary education.
  2. Be younger than 30 years old (funding requirement).
  3. Be 18 years or older (Regina Police Service requirement for Criminal Record Check).
  4. Have a Canadian Passport, Permanent Resident Card, or Confirmation of Permanent Residency to prove entitlement to work. You will be asked to provide one of these documents at the beginning of the interview.
  5. International students are not eligible applicants.

Position Description

The Child and Youth Worker will support programs within the Settlement Family and Community Services Department, providing services such as responding to client inquiries, offering settlement information, referring clients to community services, conducting needs assessments, updating data, creating and administering client surveys, completing program reports, and providing orientation to children aged 6 to 15 or youth aged 13 to 21 through educational and leisure summer programs. Training will be provided.

Qualifications and Skills

  • You are under 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment.
  • You are a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or have refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
  • You are legally entitled to work according to provincial/territorial legislation.
  • You can work in a cross-cultural setting with families whose first language is not English.
  • You possess excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • You have knowledge of local community resources assisting newcomer families.
  • You are proficient with computer skills, including Windows, MS Office, and email.
  • You have excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.

Hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:15 AM to 3:45 PM, with a 45-minute unpaid lunch break. The hourly wage is $17.00. All positions require a clean criminal record.
