Job summary

ROCK (Reach Out Centre for Kids) is seeking a compassionate Child and Youth Support Worker to support children, youth and families with complex needs through recreation, skill-building and meaningful connection. You will implement therapeutic plans, deliver individual and group support, and advocate with caregivers and partners.

This casual, hourly role operates within ROCK’s on-site and virtual hybrid model in the Halton region.

Qualifications

• Minimum college diploma in Social Services or equivalent.
• Experience in children's mental health is an asset.
• Experience working with children with Autism and/or dual diagnoses is an asset.
• Must obtain CPR/First Aid certification, UMAB certification, and up-to-date immunization records.
• A current (within three months) criminal reference check with vulnerable sector search and every three years.
• Maintain and keep current all agency trainings as required.
• Medical statement attesting to physical health to work without restriction and UMAB skills including restraints.
• A valid TB skin test is required.
• Flexible hours at varying locations, including days, evenings and overnights.
• Own a reliable vehicle with valid G license and adequate liability insurance; may be required to transport clients.

The ROLE

As a Child and Youth Support Worker, you'll play a vital role in creating a safe, supportive, and engaging environment that promotes the physical, emotional, and intellectual development of children and youth with complex needs. You'll work directly with clients and families to implement therapeutic plans, provide individual and group support, and advocate on their behalf through collaboration with caregivers and community partners.

You’ll lead and participate in recreational and therapeutic activities, support family-based treatment in various settings (home, community, or centre), and contribute to program development and evaluation. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential, as you'll maintain accurate documentation and share key updates with the team.

This role also requires a strong commitment to client safety and quality care, with a focus on ROCK’s core values of respect, collaboration, and client-centered service planning.

As part of our Live-In Treatment team, you'll help create a safe, supportive, and home-like environment where children and youth can thrive. You’ll take responsibility for the general upkeep of the residence, using daily routines and chores as opportunities to engage clients and teach valuable life skills—while ensuring all tasks are completed to a high standard.

You’ll be entrusted with the security and management of medication, food/program funds, and agency property. Flexibility is essential, as this role involves working a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, overnights, and weekends, to ensure consistent, 24/7 care and support for our clients.

This position is an existing vacancy. This position casual, hourly position with scheduling based on program and operational needs.

We are looking for a qualified, empathetic individual who possesses the following qualifications and skills:

Education:

• A minimum of a college diploma in Social Services or equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience:

• Experience in children’s mental health is an asset
• Experience working with children with Autism and/or dual diagnoses is an asset

Additional Requirements:

• Must obtain and maintain a valid CPR/First Aid certification, UMAB certification, and up to date immunization records.
• A current (within three months) criminal reference check with vulnerable sector search and after every three (3) years.
• Maintain and keep current all agency and program specific trainings as required.
• Medical statement attesting to one’s physical health to work without restriction and perform UMAB skills including restraints.
• A valid TB skin test is required for this position.
• Available to work flexible hours at varying locations according to program and/or client/caregiver needs. This could be inclusive of daytime, evening and overnight hours both during the week and weekends.
• Ownership of a reliable vehicle with a valid G driver's license and acceptable current abstract with a minimum of two million dollar liability insurance- may be required to transport clients occasionally.
• Proficient in the use of technology as required of the position, including working in a virtual environment with MAC OS operating systems experience preferred.
