CHILD AND YOUTH INSTRUCTOR

Position Type: Temporary Full Time

Number of Positions: One (1)

Department: Community Services Department - Recreation Division

File Number: SV24-168

Location: Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre

Hours: Between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM Monday to Friday and 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday, approximately 2-10 hours per week

Employee Group: Non-Union

Salary: $18.56 - $21.68 per hour

Closing Date: May 22, 2025 at 4:30 PM

Purpose and Scope:

As a member of the Community Services Department, this position provides participants with opportunities to acquire new knowledge and skills in recreational activities through effective teaching in a friendly, engaging, and caring environment. The anticipated start date is July 2025 until August 2025.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Represent the City of Belleville professionally.
  • Ensure the safety and supervision of participants, following departmental rules and regulations.
  • Plan, develop, implement, supervise, and evaluate activities to ensure successful programs.
  • Maintain participant attendance, health information, and modifications.
  • Complete and submit administrative forms (lesson plans, injury reports, etc.) as per procedures.
  • Provide problem-solving and quality customer service.
  • Respond to emergencies and complete necessary reports.
  • Handle, maintain, and report damages or losses of equipment and facilities.
  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions.

Note: These duties are representative and not all-inclusive.

Required Qualifications:
  • Enrolled in High School or equivalent.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check.
Asset Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education in child/youth-related fields (asset).
  • High Five, Healthy Child Development certification (asset).
  • Coaching/Instructing Certification (asset).
