Qualifications

Job description

ACASS, a leading provider of international business aviation support solutions, is seeking an experienced and dedicated Chief Pilot to join our Flight Operations team. Position Profile

As an essential part of ACASS’s operations team, you will collaborate with an extensive team of aviation specialists and industry professionals to deliver best-in-class aviation support services worldwide. You will also provide leadership to meet ACASS’s operational goals, ensuring all aircraft are dispatched with the safety of passengers and flight crew as the top priority in compliance with the applicable aviation regulations and the company’s policies and procedures. Responsibilities

  1. Lead the safe and efficient operation of ACASS’s managed aircraft fleet.
  2. Ensure compliance and adherence with aircraft operations regulatory requirements.
  3. Develop and maintain aircraft checklists and standard operating procedures.
  4. Ensure all aerodromes and routes are operationally suited and meet ACASS’s requirements.
  5. Issue crew directives and notices, and process and action flight crew reports.
  6. Lead by example, practicing ACASS’s core values and leadership qualities.
  7. Manage, motivate, guide, support, and mentor ACASS’s flight crew and operations support staff.
  8. Ensure that crew members perform their duties in a proper and professional manner.
  9. Supervise pilot assignment approvals and scheduling.
  10. Develop or implement all required approved training programs for the air operator flight crews.
  11. Oversee flight crew training and new pilot/crew orientation and line indoctrination training.
  12. Action and distribute accident, incident, and other occurrence reports.
  13. Manage the contents of the Cabin Crew Manuals and the corresponding Training Manual.
  14. Maintain the Operational Library.
  15. Build strong relationships and communicate with Civil Aviation Authorities.
  16. Collaborate with the Director of Flight Operations and other team members to support the department's safe, compliant, and efficient operation.
  17. Perform the usual duties and tasks of being a corporate pilot (approx. 25% of your time).

Skills and Qualifications

  3. Strong team player with a positive attitude and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  4. Outstanding situational awareness and the ability to plan, prioritize and execute efficiently.
  5. Analytical, strong results-orientation and decision-making skills.
  6. Excellent knowledge of aviation regulations and the private aviation industry in general.
  7. Ability to remain calm and work well under pressure in a deadline-driven, fast-changing environment.
  8. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software and database program.
  9. Skilled at effectively communicating with different aviation authorities.

Requirements

  1. Must be a legal Canadian Resident and willing to relocate to the Montreal area (if required).
  2. Valid Transport Canada Class 1 Medical and Airline Transport Pilot License-Aeroplane.
  3. Bombardier Challenger 604/605/650, Praetor 500/600, or Citation 10 aircraft type rating.
  4. 5,000+ Pilot Flight Hours with 1,500+ hours as Pilot-in-Command (PIC) in transport category aircraft.
  5. 5+ years of experience as a PIC in the Corporate/Private aviation industry.
  6. International Flight Operations Management experience within a TC CAR 604/704 and/or FAA Part 91/135 organization.
  7. An aviation record free from any conviction under subsection 7.3 of the Aeronautics Act and two or more convictions occurring during separate unrelated events under the Canadian Aviation Regulations.
  8. Strong communication skills in English. Bilingual in English and French (an asset).
  9. Excellent knowledge of aviation regulations and the application of company operations and policies.
  10. Ability to travel domestically and internationally – often on short notice.
