Salary :

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead the operational functions of our Tax Group. Responsibilities include overseeing operational functions, optimizing processes, and ensuring alignment with the strategic goals of the firm. This role provides leadership in financial management, resource allocation, process improvement, and compliance, with a focus on enhancing efficiency and driving growth. The COO collaborates with tax leadership and Operations to develop long-term strategies, implement best practices, and support the firm's commitment to delivering exceptional client service and maintaining regulatory compliance.

Supervisory Responsibilities :
  • Assist staff within the Tax Group, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance management to ensure alignment with department and firm objectives
Duties / Responsibilities :
  1. Oversee the daily operations of the Tax Group, with emphasis on effective work allocation, capacity management, and tracking of staff productivity
  2. Oversee the process and coordination with Internal Accounting to ensure alignment with operational goals, timely invoicing, and effective cash flow management
  3. Establish and maintain a structured review framework, ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables
  4. Collaborate with Partners and Managers to match mandates with the right staff based on skills, availability, and development goals
  5. Leverage technology to standardize workflows and reduce operational bottlenecks
  6. Work with Internal Accounting to develop budgets, monitor financial performance, and ensure profitability targets are met
  7. Design and implement dashboards and KPIs to provide real-time visibility into ongoing work, deadlines, and staff workloads
  8. Analyze historical and forecasted workloads to anticipate staffing needs and proactively adjust resource allocation
  9. Partner with People & Culture to attract, retain, and develop top talent within the Tax Group, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous learning
  10. Partner with People & Culture and Learning & Development to build career progression plans and technical training pipelines that support operational needs
  11. Lead initiatives aimed at process improvement, digital transformation, and scalable growth
What youll need to succeed :
  1. Strong knowledge of tax compliance, planning, and advisory services across various industries
  2. Bachelor's degree and/or Master's degree in Accounting or Taxation
  3. 10+ years of experience in tax operations, with significant leadership experience in a public accounting firm or professional services environment
  4. Bilingual French and English, spoken and written
  5. Experience leading firm initiatives and promoting firm growth
  6. Proven track record of driving operational improvements and managing complex projects
  7. Excellent leadership, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities
  8. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
  9. Proficiency in tax technology platforms, financial software, and data analytics tools
  10. Extensive knowledge of federal and provincial tax regulations
  11. Change management expertise with a focus on continuous improvement
  12. Understanding of evolving tax regulations and their impact on operations
