Job summary

Nutrien is hiring for a senior Engineering leader in Saskatchewan to guide Mechanical and Structural teams for surface operations. The role emphasizes safety, governance, and innovative engineering practices across maintenance and projects.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years of experience, professional engineer eligibility in Saskatchewan, and a track record of cross-disciplinary collaboration and strategic decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Structural/Industrial/Electrical) from an accredited university.
  • Eligible for registration as a professional engineer or geoscientist in Saskatchewan.
  • 8+ years leading a high-performance, multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor and lead Mechanical and Structural Engineering teams for surface operations.
  • Champion PSIM program governance and safety/ integrity initiatives on behalf of Allan.
  • Drive risk identification and implement mitigation strategies in project work.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Capital and Maintenance to prioritize maintenance engineering tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with governance policies, codes, standards and regulations.
  • Foster stakeholder engagement and cross-site collaboration to drive innovation.
  • Promote best practices and new technologies to field operations teams.
  • Contribute to maintenance opex budgets and manage major surface repair projects.
  • Advance continuous improvement through system changes and technical support.

What You'll Do
  • Lead and provide mentorship for the Mechanical Engineering and Structural Engineering team for surface
  • Responsible for the Process, Safety & Integrity Management (PSIM) program for surface and act as a representative for Allan on the PSIM steering committee. Support other Corporate Engineering and Integrity initiatives
  • Safety leader in all stages of engineering design and execution with a track record in risk identification and effective mitigation
  • Support and collaborate with Operations, Capital and Maintenance on the prioritization of maintenance engineering as needs arise
  • Accountable for the adherence to governance policies including APEGS bylaws and OHS Regulations as well as other codes, standards and specifications
  • Champion stakeholder engagement and collaboration on and across sites creating a culture of trust to foster innovation
  • Promote and introduces industry best practices and technologies to the engineering and operations teams
  • Adhere to and support the development of maintenance operational expenditure budgets. Manage the major maintenance repair projects for surface
  • MOC leader and actively promote and engage in continuous improvement through changes to existing systems and providing technical support
What You'll Bring
  • Relevant Engineering degree (preference for Mechanical/Structural/Industrial or Electrical Engineering) from an accredited University
  • Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer or Geoscientist in Saskatchewan
  • 8+ years of progressive experience leading and building a high-performance, diverse, multidisciplinary team
  • Results driven individual with a focus on building collaboration and trust
  • Proven ability to think strategically using the full complement of inputs both qualitative and quantitative to establish priorities, assess risk, and deliver value
  • Experience in change management and proven record of effective implementation
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to handle a large and varied workload with changing and conflicting priorities
  • Creative and innovative problem-solving skills
  • Strong technical writing skills and proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, OneDrive)
  • Ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical people in a clear and concise manner
  • Eligible to work in Canada
