About Us

We have mining operations and projects in northern Saskatchewan, Kazakhstan, the United States and Australia. The Role

Reporting to the Manager, Mining, Metallurgy and Technology, you will be responsible for providing leadership, strategic direction and technical oversight for a team of highly qualified technical specialists performing internal consulting, process evaluation, technology development and technical reviews for uranium extraction hydrometallurgy, mineral processing and related processes. You will also be responsible for assuming the process lead role on several projects related to production or process optimization and improvement.

In this role, you will:

  • Support operational excellence across all metallurgy disciplines.
  • Drive innovation in areas such as mineral processing, hydrometallurgy, and extractive metallurgy.
  • Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies to advance innovation initiatives and support long-term growth.
  • Assist as required in assessing new business opportunities aligned with Cameco’s strategic objectives.
  • Collaborate and provide engineering design oversight and act as a trusted advisor to both site-level and corporate teams.
  • Contribute to capital project development through leadership in front-end engineering studies and technical report preparation.
  • Ensure all engineering work aligns with regulatory standards and corporate goals.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical, metallurgical or related engineering field
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience, with a portion in operations within a hydrometallurgical environment
  • You must be eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS)
  • Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) designation
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a technical team, providing mentorship and cross functional leadership in strategic projects
  • Occasional travel to our operations including northern Saskatchewan, and processing facilities in Ontario

Recommended:

  • Prior work in the uranium industry or on uranium projects
  • Master’s Degree, or advanced degrees (e.g. PhD in related field)
  • Ability to effectively communicate and build strong relationships
  • Knowledgeable in process control, DCS/SCADA, data historian and associated systems
  • Experienced in the use of SYSCAD/PHREEQC modelling software
  • Ability to manage time and balance multiple projects
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Thorough understanding of mining and occupational health and safety regulations in Saskatchewan
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a demonstrated ability to interpret and synthesize complex data into clear, actionable reports that support informed decision-making
  • Project management experience
  • Experience in decision and process optimization (e.g. Lean Six Sigma, Decision Quality, Process Based Management)
