Job description

Reports to the Reliability Manager. This role supports the site mechanical integrity programs and ensures compliance with specific standards such as the integrity management system, ABSA owner user program, and code inspections of pressure vessels, relief devices, piping, and tanks. As the Chief Inspector, the individual will collaborate closely with maintenance and engineering teams, providing mentorship and guidance to other inspectors.

Responsibilities:

  1. Manage fixed and fabricated equipment mechanical integrity.
  2. Administer the site ABSA Integrity Management System.
  3. Supervise contract inspectors and NDE personnel.
  4. Develop and implement inspection plans for in-service and new equipment.
  5. Provide reliability services focusing on pressure equipment to support plant operations.
  6. Offer technical guidance for investigations and maintenance strategies to optimize process performance and reliability.
  7. Analyze equipment performance, driving safety, reliability, and environmental improvements.
  8. Lead reliability initiatives by identifying issues, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing preventive and predictive inspections.
  9. Maintain KPIs for equipment, optimize maintenance intervals, and plan replacements based on remaining lifespan.
  10. Support plant turnarounds with technical expertise and develop remediation plans as needed.
  11. Contribute to capital projects to enhance equipment design and safety practices, supporting top-tier performance.

Qualifications:

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience with pressure vessels.
  • API 510 certification.
  • ABSA In-service Pressure Equipment Inspector certification.
  • High School Diploma.

Desired Skills & Qualifications

  • Engineering degree or certifications such as 1st Class Power Engineers, Mechanical, Material, or Welding Technologist.
  • National Board Commission.
  • Welding Inspector qualification.
  • Previous experience as a chief inspector.
  • NDE certifications.
  • Experience with reliability-centered maintenance programs.
  • Strong industry network and familiarity with best practices and benchmarking standards.
