Qualifications

  • Supervise contract inspectors and NDE personnel.
  • Develop and implement inspection plans for both in-service and new equipment.
  • Provide reliability services focusing on pressure equipment to support overall plant operation.
  • Offer technical guidance in investigations and maintenance strategies to enhance process performance and reliability.

Job description

Overview

Reports to the Reliability Manager. The successful candidate will work within the reliability group, supporting site mechanical integrity programs and ensuring compliance with specific programs such as our integrity management system, ABSA owner user program, and the code inspection of pressure vessels, pressure relief devices, piping, and tanks. As the Chief Inspector, they are expected to collaborate closely with maintenance and engineering teams, provide mentorship, and offer guidance to other inspectors.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage fixed and fabricated equipment mechanical integrity.
  • Administer the site ABSA Integrity Management System.
  • Supervise contract inspectors and NDE personnel.
  • Develop and implement inspection plans for both in-service and new equipment.
  • Provide reliability services focusing on pressure equipment to support overall plant operation.
  • Offer technical guidance in investigations and maintenance strategies to enhance process performance and reliability.
  • Analyze equipment performance, driving improvements in safety, reliability, environmental performance, and production.
  • Lead reliability improvements by identifying and addressing bad actors, conducting root cause analysis, ensuring compliance with mechanical integrity standards, and implementing preventive and predictive inspection programs.
  • Maintain and utilize key performance indicators to optimize maintenance intervals and develop replacement strategies based on equipment lifespan.
  • Support plant turnarounds by providing technical expertise and developing remediation plans for 'as found' issues.
  • Contribute to capital projects by suggesting design improvements and safe work practices to achieve top industry performance standards.

Qualifications:

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years experience with pressure vessels.
  • API 510 certification.
  • ABSA Inservice Pressure Equipment Inspector certification.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Desired Skills & Qualifications

  • Engineering degree or certifications such as 1st Class Power Engineer, Mechanical, Material, or Welding Technologist.
  • National Board Commission.
  • Welding Inspector qualification.
  • Previous experience as a chief inspector.
  • NDE certification(s).
  • Six Sigma or Lean certification.
  • Experience with reliability-centered maintenance programs.
  • Strong industry network and knowledge of industry best practices and benchmarking standards.
