Job description

New Value Solutions, a national IT consulting firm, is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and strategic Chief Information Officer (CIO) to lead and manage all aspects of technology infrastructure and security, systems development, and IT support across a group of operating companies. This is a hands-on leadership role that blends strategic vision with a practical understanding of complex operational environments.

As part of onboarding, the successful candidate will spend the first six to eight months working directly within one of the operating entities. This immersive assignment is designed to provide deep insight into day-to-day operations, frontline technology needs, and the challenges encountered in the field. This experience will be essential in shaping a technology strategy that aligns closely with real-world needs and long-term growth objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic planning and execution of IT initiatives across multiple operating companies.
  • Oversee the procurement, implementation, and maintenance of hardware and software systems.
  • Drive the development and customization of software solutions to meet both operational and administrative needs.
  • Maintain regular communication across all levels of the organization to identify technology challenges and opportunities for improvement through iterative development or system upgrades.
  • Manage internal IT personnel and external vendors to ensure high-quality service delivery and compliance with relevant laws and industry standards, including privacy regulations.
  • Ensure the security, availability, and reliability of network infrastructure, servers, and cloud-based systems.
  • Support compliance with government contracts by ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Collaborate closely with senior leadership to ensure technology strategies align with broader organizational goals.
  • Provide oversight for the Logistics Communication Center (LCC) during critical operations periods to ensure 24/7 coverage, including real-time public communications, GPS monitoring, and road event reporting.
  • Monitor and support key business systems, including accounting, payroll, and enterprise software platforms.
  • Apply insights gained from the initial six-month operational field assignment to inform system development, integration, and long-term IT strategy.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in a senior IT leadership role, with a proven track record of effectively managing and developing high-performing teams.
  • Solid foundation in software development, IT infrastructure, and systems integration.
  • Experience working in operationally focused or field-based environments is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate cross-functional technical teams and support staff.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in dynamic environments.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and stakeholder groups.

The annual salary for this position is $130 - 150k, with the final salary based on consultant experience and fit for the role.

If you have this expertise, and are able to work in Canada, please submit your resume. While we thank all candidates in advance for their application, only those candidates who are shortlisted will be contacted.
