A leading Canadian municipality seeks a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to guide financial strategy and sustainability. The Opportunity:
The City is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the permanent full-time role ofChief Financial Officer(CFO) who, as a key member of the leadership team, plays a crucial role in leading and advising on strategic financial objectives which align with enterprise goals and financial sustainability of The City. Positioned within Corporate Performance and Supports, the CFO collaborates with other leaders to monitor and report on effective and sustainable municipal service delivery.

Key Accountabilities:
As a financial expert and strategic thinker, the CFO assesses risks, applies foresight, and ensures outcomes within standards and regulations. They recommend financial strategies and policies to the Executive Director, City Manager, and executive leadership, and liaises with the Mayor, Council, and other leaders, often acting as the spokesperson on The City's financial affairs.
The CFO's responsibilities include duties under the Municipal Government Act of Alberta and Public Sector Accounting Standards. This is a key role responsible for leading The City's enterprise business planning (budget) process, supporting the Audit Committee's work plan, and ensuring financial stewardship of City assets., The CFO oversees the implementation of the Financial Roadmap, procurement, treasury, internal controls, audit coordination, ensuring integrity, transparency, and compliance in all municipal financial activities.
