Job description

Lead financial strategy, capital markets, and governance as a key member of the executive team of Canada's first commercial spaceport operator.

Canso, Nova Scotia / Posted April 8, 2026

About Us

Maritime Launch Services is a publicly listed commercial space company building Spaceport Nova Scotia near the communities of Canso, Hazel Hill, and Little Dover in the Municipality of Guysborough, Nova Scotia, with our head office based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Our mission is to deliver satellite launch services that strengthen Canada's position in the global space economy and enable sovereign access to space.

We are now entering an exciting phase of growth, moving from planning to sustained delivery: scaling the organization, strengthening partnerships, and preparing for ongoing launch operations. As we continue to evolve as a publicly listed company, we are seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to help lead the organization through its next stage of growth and maturity. Maritime Launch Services is currently listed on CBOE Canada under the ticker symbol MAXQ.

Job Description

As CFO, you will be a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for the overall financial stewardship, strategy, and governance of the Company. Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with the Board of Directors, you will lead all aspects of finance, including financial strategy, capital markets, investor relations, financial reporting, forecasting, planning and analysis, and risk management.

This role is ideal for a strategic and hands‑on financial leader who thrives in high‑growth, complex environments and brings experience operating within public markets. Experience supporting an IPO or working in a publicly listed company environment is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

As CFO, you will lead the financial strategy and operations of the Company, ensuring strong governance, financial discipline, and alignment with long‑term growth objectives.

  • Financial Strategy & Leadership: Develop and execute the Company's financial strategy in alignment with corporate objectives, supporting sustainable growth, capital efficiency, and long‑term value creation.
  • Public Company Reporting & Compliance: Oversee all financial reporting and disclosure requirements associated with being a publicly listed company, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and coordination with external auditors and regulatory bodies.
  • Capital Markets & Investor Relations: Lead the Company's capital markets strategy and execution, including equity and debt financing initiatives, investor relations, and engagement with analysts, shareholders, and prospective investors. Support and lead future listing initiatives on additional exchanges while strengthening the Company's visibility, credibility, and access to global capital markets.
  • Treasury & Capital Management: Oversee cash management, liquidity planning, and capital allocation strategies to ensure the Company is well‑positioned to fund operations and growth initiatives.
  • Internal Controls & Governance: Establish and maintain robust financial controls, policies, and governance frameworks aligned with public company expectations and best practices.
  • Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A): Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis processes to provide insights that support strategic decision‑making and operational performance.
  • Executive & Board Engagement: Act as a key advisor to the CEO and Board of Directors, providing financial insights, risk analysis, and strategic recommendations.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Build, lead, and mentor a high‑performing finance team, including oversight of the Controller and broader finance function, ensuring scalability as the organization grows.
  • Strategic Initiatives & Growth: Support strategic partnerships, infrastructure development, and long‑term investment planning as the Company advances Spaceport Nova Scotia and related initiatives.
Essential Qualifications
  • Minimum 10–15 years of progressive finance leadership experience, including senior executive roles.
  • Demonstrated experience in a publicly listed company environment.
  • Strong understanding of public company financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and governance.
  • Deep knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting standards.
  • Proven experience leading financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting at an organizational level.
  • Experience managing capital structure, cash flow, and treasury functions.
  • Strong leadership and team‑building capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, including ability to engage with Board members, investors, and external stakeholders.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to operate both at a high level and in a hands‑on capacity.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Direct experience supporting or leading an IPO process.
  • Experience with capital raising, investor relations, and public market communications.
  • Experience implementing SOX or Bill 198 internal control frameworks.
  • Experience in infrastructure, aerospace, construction, or other capital‑intensive industries.
  • Experience scaling finance functions in high‑growth or emerging companies.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as NetSuite or similar cloud‑based platforms.
  • Experience working with government stakeholders, funding programs, or public‑private partnerships.
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast‑paced, evolving organization.
  • Willingness to support key reporting cycles and capital market activities that may require extended hours.
  • High degree of integrity, accountability, and professional judgment.
