Job summary

An organization in Wikwemikong seeks a Chief Financial Controller to enhance the financial management of the CFSU. Job description

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the CFSU management team ensuring effective and efficient performance of team
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual reports as required
  • Prepare and maintain the annual operating budget and financial forecasting
  • Ensure the accuracy of financial transactions within the general ledger
  • Ensure WUT Finance and Personnel policies are adhered too
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory governing and accounting bodies such Public Sector Accounting standards and generally accepted accounting principles
  • Coordinate the annual audit process and year end activities
  • Maintain accounting systems and processes for the CFSU
  • Develop workplans that align with Council strategic plans and community needs
  • Effectively maintain internal relationships and actively participate in collaborative meetings to achieve organizational goals

Requirements:

  • Post-Secondary education in a relevant field
  • Certified Aboriginal Financial Management designation or willing to obtain
  • Minimum five years financial management experience
  • Technical accounting skills and experience in financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and other financial management software
  • Proactive problem solver with excellent conflict resolution skills
  • Must have excellent communication skills in English and operational understanding of Anishinaabemowin
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
