About Shalom Orlando:
At Shalom Orlando, we believe Jewish life thrives wherever you are—at home, with friends, or through the variety of exceptional Jewish organizations supporting our community in Central Florida. As a recently integrated entity encompassing the Jewish Federation and The Roth Family Jewish Community Center of Greater Orlando, we are a family-friendly community with abundant entertainment, arts, theme parks, sporting events, and outdoor activities. We are home to one of the largest Hillels in the country at the University of Central Florida, as well as nearby Hillels at Rollins College and Stetson University. We have three Jewish day schools, 41 synagogues, and numerous Jewish organizations, including Jewish Family Services, the Holocaust Memorial Resource and Education Center, two Jewish Community Centers, the Jewish Pavilion, and many more.

About the CEO Role:
The CEO role at Shalom Orlando offers a unique opportunity for a dynamic leader to guide the organization into a new era of growth and impact, shaping the future of one of the fastestgrowing Jewish communities in the U.S. (with over 51,000 Jewish residents in Central Florida).

By leveraging strong leadership, financial expertise, and a proven track record in fundraising, the CEO will drive innovation and relevance within the community. This visionary, creative, and inspiring individual will possess strong management and communication skills, along with a deep understanding of the crucial role of fundraising. With strategic vision and a commitment to building meaningful relationships, the CEO will elevate Shalom Orlando to become a vital hub of Jewish life and community engagement in the 21st century.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Organizational Management: Provide dynamic and strategic leadership. Engage positively in building relationships, managing staff and lay leadership, and bringing the community together. As a change agent, the CEO will promote a culture of innovation, inclusion, and excitement around the Jewish community. Oversee day-to-day operations, including staff coaching, team development, and strategic objective setting. Lead all aspects of human resources management, including hiring, performance evaluation, staff retention, and workplace culture. Ensure the management of the 13.5-acre property, including technical support and security, working with the Facilities Management Committee to maintain a safe and secure campus.
  • Strategy: Champion the execution of Shalom Orlando’s strategic plan, translating broad goals into actionable steps. Collaborate with staff and board leadership to align daily operations with strategic priorities. Drive organizational growth by evaluating progress, identifying innovation opportunities, and ensuring accountability in meeting key milestones.
  • Fundraising and Financial Resource Development: Serve as a visible and inspiring leader in all fundraising and development efforts. Partner with the professional and lay development team, as well as the marketing team, to design and implement strategies that support Shalom Orlando’s growth and sustainability, including major donor cultivation, planned giving, grants, capital campaigns, corporate sponsorships, and special events. Build strong relationships with funders, act as a compelling spokesperson, and champion initiatives that advance the organization’s mission and impact.
  • Community Relations and Advocacy: Represent Shalom Orlando and the broader Jewish community as its face and advocate. Lead the Community Relations component, working with Shalom Orlando’s Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC), and acting as a liaison with community organizations and government agencies. Advocate for positions affecting the local Jewish community and promote understanding and cooperation. Strengthen relationships with Israel and represent the community’s interests in public policy, social justice, and interfaith relations.
  • Programming: Collaborate with the Programming Director to design, support, and enhance innovative programs that resonate with Shalom Orlando’s diverse community. Ensure programming aligns with the organization’s mission and strategic vision, fostering community engagement and inclusivity. Encourage new initiatives that address emerging trends and opportunities within the Jewish community.
  • Financial Acumen: Demonstrate strong financial acumen, analyzing financial data and making informed decisions to ensure the organization’s financial health. The CEO, in partnership with the CFO and the board of directors, will oversee financial security by utilizing financial reports for annual budgeting, forecasting, and strategy development.
  • Governance and Board Relations: Work closely with the Board of Directors to ensure effective governance, providing regular updates on performance and aligning strategic initiatives with the board’s vision.
  • Volunteer Management: Ensure that volunteer engagement is a strategic priority and effectively integrated into the organization's overall operations.
  • Risk Management and Compliance: Oversee compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, implementing risk management strategies to protect Shalom Orlando’s interests, security, and reputation.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) and 10+ years of relevant experience; an advanced degree is a plus.
  • Strong organizational management skills with a proven ability to develop highperformance teams, foster an inclusive culture, and achieve strategic goals in a community-centric environment.
  • Proven executive leadership experience in strategic planning and change management within complex organizations.
  • Extensive experience in community engagement, partnership building, and stakeholder management, preferably in nonprofit or Jewish community organizations.
  • Success in diverse fundraising strategies, including major gifts, planned giving, capital campaigns, and donor relations.
  • Proficiency in financial data analysis.
  • Knowledge of Jewish culture, practices, and traditions, with the ability to represent and advocate for the Orlando Jewish community.
  • Ability to build strong, lasting relationships within the community.
