Job description

Creative BC is the Province of British Columbia's economic development agency for the creative sector and one of Canada's most influential creative economy organizations. Operating at the intersection of culture, business, innovation, and public policy, Creative BC serves as the catalyst for a globally connected creative ecosystem that has established British Columbia as an international leader in film and television production, visual effects, animation, interactive digital media, music, and publishing. Through its strategic partnerships with government, industry, creators, Indigenous communities, and international stakeholders, the organization helps shape an industry that contributes billions of dollars annually to the provincial economy while showcasing British Columbia's talent and creativity on the world stage.

As an independent organization, Creative BC administers significant provincial investment and tax credit programs, operates the internationally recognized BC Film Commission, supports the growth of homegrown creative companies and talent, and promotes British Columbia as one of the world's premier destinations for creative production and investment. Guided by a commitment to innovation, inclusion, integrity, and collaboration, Creative BC is entering an important new chapter as it builds on a strong foundation and positions both the organization and the sector for long-term success.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer will provide strategic and operational leadership to an organization that sits at the centre of British Columbia's creative economy. The CEO will lead the execution of Creative BC's mandate while serving as a trusted advisor to government, a respected partner to industry, and an influential ambassador for British Columbia's creative sector at home and internationally. Responsible for organizational performance, financial stewardship, stakeholder engagement, and the delivery of programs that support thousands of creators and businesses across the province, the CEO will help shape the future of one of North America's most dynamic creative jurisdictions.

The ideal candidate is a collaborative, values-driven executive with a demonstrated ability to lead complex, multi-stakeholder organizations through growth and change. They bring strategic vision, exceptional relationship-building skills, and the credibility to engage confidently with government, Boards, industry leaders, creators, and diverse communities. Combining strong business and financial acumen with political judgment and sound decision-making, the successful leader will balance long-term strategy with operational excellence while fostering a culture of accountability, inclusion, innovation, and continuous improvement. Experience in the creative, cultural, economic development, technology, or public sectors will be highly valued, together with a demonstrated commitment to reconciliation, equity, and sustainable economic growth.

Based in Vancouver—one of North America's leading centres for film, technology, digital media, and creative entrepreneurship—this role offers an exceptional opportunity to shape an industry that contributes significantly to British Columbia's economy, culture, and international reputation. For an accomplished executive motivated by public purpose and the opportunity to make a lasting impact, this is a chance to lead one of Canada's most visible creative economy organizations and help define the next chapter of British Columbia's global creative success.

The compensation for this role is in the range of $175,000 to $225,000.
