In collaboration with the City of Montreal, the boroughs, Tennis Québec, Tennis Canada, and its many partners, the organization offers programs for players of all ages and levels, from initiation to the development of excellence within its TME Academy.
Against a backdrop of growth, a sound financial position, and the development of new projects, Tennis Montréal is seeking an Executive Director capable of continuing the organization's evolution, transforming its ambitions into high-impact projects, and increasing its influence within the Montreal community.
Job summary
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director assumes strategic and operational leadership for Tennis Montréal and ensures the coherence, performance, and development of all its sports, administrative, and commercial activities in a year-round active environment with programming that evolves across four distinct seasons. He or she also ensures the management and development of the TME Academy.
He or she is responsible for the implementation of the strategic plan, the organization's results and development, the management of teams and financial resources, as well as the maintenance and development of strong relationships with municipal, sports, governmental, community, and commercial partners.
With a view to long-term growth and impact, the incumbent helps bring structuring projects to light and to fruition for Tennis Montréal. Demonstrating an entrepreneurial spirit and a strong capacity for initiative, they know how to recognize promising opportunities, mobilize the organization and its partners, and transform Tennis Montréal's ambitions into value-creating initiatives for the organization and the Montreal community.
Main responsibilities
1. Leadership and strategy
- Implement the strategic plan, evolve it as needed, and ensure the organization's objectives are met.
- Present to the board of directors the strategic directions, results, issues, and recommendations necessary for sound governance.
- Identify, prioritize, and concrete new development, programming, innovation, and partnership opportunities, and bring forth structuring projects that enable Tennis Montréal to strategically allocate its resources and sustainably increase its impact.
- Anticipate changing needs, practices, and the sports ecosystem in order to guide the medium- and long-term development of Tennis Montréal, expand the service offering, improve accessibility, and ensure the long-term viability of the organization and its impact.
2. Management and Organizational Performance
- Oversee all sports, administrative, and commercial activities and maintain a keen understanding of operational realities and on-the-ground needs in order to ensure rigorous and consistent execution of programs and projects.
- Lead, structure, mobilize, and foster the professional development of the management team and employees.
- Establish and monitor performance and impact indicators to inform decisions, measure the reach of programs, and identify underserved needs, clienteles, and territories.
- Foster an organizational culture focused on collaboration, customer experience, accountability, and results.
3. Development, innovation, business partnerships and revenue
- Ensure the growth and diversification of the organization's revenue and funding sources.
- Develop commercial, institutional, and community partnerships.
- Evaluate and advance new structuring projects to increase the presence and impact of Tennis Montréal.
4. Institutional Relations and Stakeholders
- Maintain and develop privileged relationships with the City of Montreal and the various boroughs.
- Represent Tennis Montréal to Tennis Québec, Tennis Canada, relevant governmental and public bodies, and other organizations within the sports ecosystem.
- Develop collaborations with clubs, schools, community organizations, and local partners.
- Play an active role in discussions surrounding the development, improvement, and use of tennis infrastructure in Montreal.
5. Customer experience, marketing, and outreach
- Make the participant and member experience an organizational priority.
- Oversee marketing, communications, and digital presence directions.
- Increase the brand awareness and reach of Tennis Montréal.
- Increase Tennis Montreal's reach among diverse clienteles, of all ages and all levels.
- Position Tennis Montreal as a key player in the development of tennis and tennis culture in Montreal.
6. Financial management and governance
- Develop and manage the annual budget in collaboration with the team and the board of directors.
- Ensure rigorous financial management and strategic resource allocation while respecting budgetary objectives.
- Supervise administrative, contractual, and risk management processes.
- Ensure compliance with the policies, regulatory obligations, and good governance practices applicable to the organization.
Profile required
Experience
- Over 10 years of relevant experience, including several years in a management role
- Experience in managing multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience in budget planning and financial monitoring, ideally with responsibility for an operating budget.
- Experience in marketing and communications, as well as in public speaking and dealing with the media.
- Experience in the sports, municipal, community, event, or service organization sector is a significant asset.
- Experience working with a board of directors and in a non-profit organization environment is an asset.
