Job Title: Chief Estimator

Join our dynamic team at Traine Construction & Development and Mainline Living Property Management, where we're committed to making a difference by building exceptional rental communities across Canada. We value learning, development, and giving back to local communities.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Chief Estimator to lead our construction estimating efforts. You will report directly to the Vice President of Construction, overseeing the estimation process for our construction divisions. This role involves coordinating with preconstruction teams, project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to develop accurate and comprehensive estimates.

Location: Kelowna, BC (Head Office)

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the estimation process throughout the budgeting stages, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Develop and refine estimating processes to enhance efficiency and competitiveness.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, market conditions, and emerging technologies.
  • Review contract documents and assess project site conditions to understand potential costs and risks.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and other expenses.
  • Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Utilize estimating software and technological tools to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Collaborate on project budgets, monitor expenses, and manage cost variances.
  • Prepare and review Job Cost sheets and maintain supplier and subcontractor directories.
  • Establish relationships with vendors and industry partners.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field; advanced degrees/certifications preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in construction estimating, particularly with wood frame projects.
  • Proficiency in estimating techniques and software such as Blue Beam and Procore.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
