Job summary

Svitzer is seeking a hands-on Chief Engineer to join our Float Pool, responsible for keeping high‑power tug machinery operational in a demanding port environment.

You will diagnose faults, own engine room readiness, and support the Master and crew to keep tugs running at all times across UK ports. A senior, safety‑critical role with real ownership and challenge.

Qualifications

• Minimum STCW III/3 Chief Engineer is required.
• Valid ENG1 and STCW certification (minimum 6 months validity).
• Professional mindset and pride in safe, reliable engineering.
• Right to live and work in the UK; all crew must be flexible to work across UK ports.
• Full UK driving licence and own transport are required.

Svitzer is looking for a Chief Engineer to join our Float Pool, working on terminal towage and marine services.

This is not a supervisory role from the sidelines.

As Chief Engineer, you are hands‑on, accountable, and ultimately responsible for keeping powerful tug vessels operational in a demanding, safety‑critical environment where downtime is not an option.

If you want real ownership, technical challenge, and responsibility this is the role where it counts.
